About UK HealthCare

UK HealthCare, the University’s advanced academic medical center and clinical care network, is uniquely equipped to provide advanced subspecialty care to the people of Kentucky.  UK HealthCare Hospital System operates two hospital units under one Joint Commission Accreditation and two licenses in addition to ambulatory services.  The major service units include Albert B. Chandler Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital and the Kentucky Clinic.

Awards and Recognitions

UK HealthCare’s performance in the 2024-25 Best Hospital rankings:

For the ninth consecutive year, the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital at UK HealthCare has been named the No. 1 hospital in Kentucky and the Bluegrass Region by the U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals rankings and ratings.

For the eighth straight year, the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center has earned a top 50 national ranking for cancer care in the Best Hospitals rankings. Our Ear, Nose and Throat and OB-GYN programs also were recognized among the top 50 programs of their kind in the nation.

In a newly introduced category, our hospital received designation as Best Regional Hospital for Equitable Access, recognizing our success in caring for patients in underserved communities. Ours was the only hospital in Kentucky to receive this designation.

Additionally, six adult specialties at UK HealthCare and 14 common adult procedures and conditions received a high-performing designation.
